Abstract

The irreversible magnetisation in C-15 Laves phase superconductor CeRu2 is being studied vis-a-vis the disorder in the vortex phase induced by the material defects present in different CeRu2 samples. The study clearly reveals that the peak-effect in CeRu2 cannot be explained on the basis of collective pinning model. The results on 5 at.% Nd-doped CeRu2 sample appear to be indicative of a possible correlation between the peak-effect and the normal state paramagnetism of CeRu2.
