Abstract

Activities of some key enzymes of the Calvin cycle and C4 metabolism, rates of 14CO2 fixation in light and dark, and initial products of photosynthetic 14CO2 fixation when determined in fruiting structures of wheat and chickpea, indicated that compared to activities of RuBP carboxylase and other Calvin cycle enzymes, the activities of PEP carboxylase and other enzymes of C4 metabolism were generally much higher in fruiting structures than in the leaf.
