Abstract

Two unexpected transformations: The reaction of the Huisgen zwitterion derived from triphenylphosphane and diisopropyl azodicarboxylate (DIAD) with chalcones affords functionalized pyrazolines. In contrast, the reaction with dienones affords pyrazolopyridazines, presumably by Diels-Alder reaction of the initially formed pyrazoline with excess DIAD.
