Abstract

Inheritance of resistance to green leafhopper (Nephotettix virescens) in five rice cultivars was studied. These cultivars were known to have dominant genes for resistance which are independent of Glh1, Glh2, Glh3, Glh5 and Glh9(t). Allelism tests with Glh11(t) showed that the dominant genes in the five cultivars segregated independently of Glh11(t). Allele tests revealed that cultivars Hashikalmi, Ghaiya, ARC10313 and Garia have the same gene for resistance, which is designated as Glh12(t). The dominant gene of Asmaita, on the other hand, segregated independently of Glh12(t) and is designated Glh13(t).
