Abstract

It has been observed that Lanthanide Acetylacetonates (LnAc3) annul the magnetic field perturbation on the luminescence of cyanophenanthrene-trans-anethole (CNP-AN) exciplex. The ability of various trivalent lanthanide ions to quench the magnetic field effect was found to parallel the square root of the de Gennes factor G=(g-1)2 J(J+1) of the ions. We offer an explanation of the phenomenon on the basis of Heisenberg exchange interaction.
