Abstract

Stirring of (CO)6Fe2(μ-SSe) and phenylacetylene in methanol at room temperature for 16 h yielded the double butterfly complex [{(CO)6Fe2SSe}2{μ-C(H)-C(Ph)}]. Compound [{(CO)6Fe2SSe}2{μ-C(H)-C(Ph)}] was characterized by IR and 1H and 13CNMR spectroscopy. Its structure was established by single crystal X-ray crystallography. It crystallized in the triclinic space group P1̅ with a=8.956(10), b=9.083, c=17.49(2)Å, α=104.77(10)°, β=93.32(10)°, γ=94.77(10)°, ν=1336.4(3)Å3, Z=2, Dcalc=2.175 g cm−3. Full matrix least-squares refinement of [{(CO)6Fe2SSe}2{μ-C(H)-C(Ph)}] converged to Rw = 0.0504 and Rw = 0.0549. The structure consists of two Fe2SSe butterfly units linked to each other through a bridging PhC-CH group.
