Abstract

Analysing the intensities of cosmic radio noise on 25 Mc/s at Ahmedabad, it was found that during days of magnetic storms there was, in addition to the usual variation of intensity due to the diurnal changes in D-region ionisation and F-region absorption, a further variation. This showed itself as a decrease in the attenuation on the first two days of the storm and an increase in the attenuation on the third day. The decreased attenuation is most clearly seen in the first half of the night on the first and second days after the commencement of a storm and is associated with a decrease in F-scatter.
