Abstract

A transient calorimetric technique for measuring the total hemispherical emissivities εh of metals, in the temperature range 140-300°K, has been developed. Using this technique, continuous εh versus temperature data have been obtained for pure samples of Cu and Al, with a precision of about 5%. These results are compared with those of previous investigators and with the theory of Davisson and Weeks.
