Abstract

We study the efficiency of energy transduction, the nature of currents, input energy and entropy production in a temporally asymmetric adiabatically rocked ratchets by the method of stochastic energetics. The temporal asymmetry is found to favour current in one direction and suppress it in the opposite direction leading to a very high efficiency in comparison with earlier studied various classes of ratchets. From our analysis of energy loss in the medium, entropy production and currents, we conclude that there is no underlying resonance or synchronization phenomena in the dynamics of the particle and also that the maxima seen in the current and the total entropy production are not directly correlated. Fine tuning of system parameters leads to current reversals even in the adiabatic regime.
