Abstract

Characterization of nonnegative matrices A which satisfy the equation (AP)T = tΣi=1 αiAmi, where p<m1<m2 <......<mt are positive integers and ai>0 for all i is given as a direct sum of matrices of special types. Applications to stochastic and {0, 1} matrices are derived, thus generalizing a number of earlier results.
