Abstract

We describe the design and CMOS implementation of a baseband spread-spectrum communication system using chaotic signals for spreading digital data. The communication system uses a new chaotic modulation scheme called modified differential chaos shift keying (M-DCSK). The M-DCSK scheme and its characteristics are analyzed for single user and multi user applications. The chaotic signals were generated using a simple and robust circuit. The dynamics of this chaos generating circuit are also studied. The spectral properties of the system are investigated and compared with theoretical expectations.
