Abstract

The effects of hybridization and the presence of the van Hove singularity in the density of state on superconductivity in a two-band model are studied within the framework of the BCS theory. The gap parameter and the critical temperature are non-zero below a critical value of the hybridization strength, which depends strongly on the charge transfer energy gap. These quantities reach their maximum values when the Fermi level coincides with the van Hove singularity.
