Abstract
Flavan-4-ones have been found to yield the corresponding probably equatorial 4-hydroxy compounds by oximation, reduction to the amine and deamination. Configurations have been tentatively assigned to some flavan-4-ols on the basis of this reaction and of results of catalytic hydrogenation (PtO2, AcOH).
