Abstract

New experimental results on the use of rolling ball viscometry for three Newtonian and three power law liquids are reported. A ball undergoes pure rolling motion along the wall of a tube having angles of inclination with the horizontal between 20° and 60° only. In the case of near horizontal and near vertical configurations, some sliding also takes place. The method has been shown to yield useful results for both power law and Newtonian liquids in the inclination range 20°-60°.
