Abstract

Extensive experimental results on the pressure loss associated with Newtonian fluid flow through a screen are reported. It is shown that the use of two dimensionless groups, namely, the loss coefficient and the Reynolds number, provides an adequate representation of the data over wide ranges of conditions of Reynolds number, size of screens, etc. There appears to be no influence of the screen aperture/column diameter ratio on the loss coefficient in the range 100-1200.
