Abstract

The fluidity, Φ, of a molten salt is directly proportional to the relative free volume (V-V0)/V0. Although the parameter V0 is closely related to the molar volume of the solid near the melting point the proportionality constant is difficult to interpret in terms of the microscopic or thermodynamic properties of the salt.
