Abstract

Albizzia lebbeck is an economically important, timber yielding, leguminous tree of India. In the present study, transient GUS expression has been monitored in order to optimize parameters of gene delivery and thereby aim for an efficient, reproducible gene transfer system. Different parameters like the type of plasmid, rupture disc pressure and distance were standardized for biolistic-mediated DNA delivery in the hypocotyl explants. These parameters will now be employed for developing transgenic Albizzia with genes of agronomic interest.
