Abstract

Measurements of the angular distribution of electrons scattered via the 283.75 eV carbon K-shell resonance in CH4 have been carried out in a crossed-beam apparatus. The predominantly f-wave character of the differential cross section indicates a most probable electron configuration and symmetry of the inner-shell resonant state as (1a1) (2a1)2(1t2)6 (2t2)24T1.2T1.
