Abstract

Lead tetraformamide and trilead octaformamide have been isolated and, along with iodine and potassium dichromate, have been used as oxidising agents for the determination of Sn2+, As3+, Sb3+, Ce3+, Fe2+ and S2O32− ions in formamide media. The course of these oxidation-reduction reactions can be followed potentiometrically. Visual titrations without indicator are possible when iodine in formamide is used as the titrant.
