Abstract

Addition compounds of amino dibutoxy phenyl silane and amino dibutoxy silane with tin(IV), titanium(IV) and arsenic(III) chlorides have been isolated. Enthalpymetric titrations have indicated that only 1:1 adducts are formed. I.R. spectral studies suggest that bonding is through nitrogen. Heats of reactions have been measured to determine the electron donor ability of some amino alkyl phenyl butoxy silanes. The donor strength of these bases has been found to be mainly due to the inductive effect of the substituent groups on the silicon atom.
