Abstract

Parthenin was extracted from Parthenium hysterophorus L. leaves growing in northern part of India, and its effect was tested on the seed germination parameters and other related characteristics of Agemtum conyzoides L. weed. Parthenin proved phytotoxic to A. conyzoides as most of the studied parameters were inhibited. It may lead to a possible biological eradication of the A. conyzoides weed.
