Abstract

In weanling rats fed a rice diet deficient in lysine and threonine for three days, kidney total lipid was reduced. Total, free and esterified cholesterol were increased in the deficient group while triglyceride and free fatty acids were decreased. Kidney total phospholipids and phosphatidyl choline amounts were not affected, but phosphatidyl ethanolamine was reduced in the deficient group. Rats fed the deficient diet also showed a reduction in the incorporation of acetate in total lipids, free and esterified cholesterol, and free fatty acids.
