Abstract

The salt tolerance of induced mutations of barley at seedling stage was studied in M3 generation. Seedling growth parameters studied, shoot length and root length showed a reduction in mean accompained by increase in variability indicating preponderance of mutations in the direction of sensitivity. Both EMS and gamma irradiation showed a dose dependent increase in variability for these traits while the combination treatments showed no such relation. Induced mutations for coleoptile length and root number showed no definite pattern of change in mean or variance
