Abstract

The X-ray, magnetisation and Mössbauer data of the 45PbO-35B2O3-4Al2O3-10Fe2O3-6Y2O3 system heated at its crystallisation temperature indicate the presence of large α-Fe2O3 particles surrounded by smaller spinel particles. A compensation temperature observed at 450 K is ascribed to an exchange interaction of the surface ions of α-Fe2O3 with the surrounding spinel phase.
