Abstract

The first spark spectrum of mercury was investigated further and found a number of new terms that the configuration for the 5 d 9 6 s 6 p makes fully expected group. Even some of the configuration 5 d 9 6 s 6 d belonging to given terms. Furthermore, a number of series of the modified Ritz type as Paschen first discovered in the Neon, was identified, leading to an indication of the position of the 1 S 0-Terms of Hg III. From this series of relationships seems to indicate that a number of terms McLennan, McLay and Crawford in the attempt of a reassignment of the spectrum due to Hg II-jj-coupling point closer, in fact, higher powers of such series.
