Abstract

The generalisation of the problem of reflection of Rayleigh waves by a high impedence semi-infinite superficial obstacle to the case when the obstacle is circular has been considered. The radius of the circle has been assumed to be small compared to the wave length of the incident Rayleigh wave. It is found that the scattered Rayleigh wave is out of phase from the incident wave by 3π/4 plus a small term, at large distances.
