Abstract

This paper reports the evolution of ten-armed rod-shaped QC related phase in conventionally cast Al-Fe-V-Si alloy. The uniqueness of this reports lies in the fact that the cooling rate adopted is much lower (≈10 K/s) when compared to RSP (106 K/s). The phase showing this novel morphology is identified as Al13Fe4 with a small amount of V and Si in it.
