Abstract

A stable 28S RNA synthesized after colitis phage infection was isolated and characterized. The RNAs synthesized after phase infection as well as the 28S RNA were found to be phage specific by hybridization experiments. The 28S RNA directed the synthesis of three phage structural proteins in rice embryo cell-free system. On denaturation of the RNA, there was 100% increase in the synthesis of phage structural protein II, thereby showing the presence of secondary structure in the RNA.
