Abstract

Statistically averaged dipole-dipole interaction is taken to propose a model for calculation of the macroscopic properties of polar gases. The results obtained in interpreting the second virial coefficient of polar gases with this potential are quite encouraging. The force parameters determined from B(T) data are used for the evaluation of viscosity. The theoretical result compares well with the experimental value. The over-all agreement between experimental values and those obtained on the preaveraged potential for polar gases is comparable to that of the Lennard-Jones (12-6) model for nonpolar gases.
