Abstract

We have investigated the conductivity spectra at different temperatures for the AgI doped silver borate superionic glasses and estimated the concentration of mobile Ag+ ions as a function of temperature and composition. It is observed that the concentration of mobile Ag+ ions is independent of temperature and only a fraction of the total Ag+ions in these glasses participate in the diffusion process. The increase in conductivity due to the insertion of AgI can be attributed to the increase in hopping rate of Ag+ ions which is supported by FT-IR results.
