Abstract

The paramagnetic resonance of Gd3+ in single crystals of La(NO3)3 · 6H2O and Nd(NO3)3 · 6H2O is studied at room temperature. A seven-line spectrum for H∃ Z as well as for H ∃ X corresponding to Δ M = ± 1 transitions, are observed in these crystals. The estimated zero-field splittings of Gd3+ in various single crystals studied by the authors are compared and discussed.
