Abstract

In this paper we report the magnetic ordering in RTi2Ga4 system for the first time. The nature of the magnetic ordering is investigated by susceptibility (ac and dc), resistivity measurements on these samples. The susceptibility of all the compounds show a Curie-Weiss temperature dependence above 150 K with ferromagnetic Curie temperature. However, their low field ac susceptibility data show a large antiferromagnetic transition which splits into two peaks under the application of dc magnetic field. Nevertheless, the dc susceptibility of two of the samples DyTi2Ga4 and ErTi2Ga4 shows ferromagnetic ordering at a field of 4 kOe. The resistivity and magnetoresistivity also show anomalous behaviour at low temperatures.
