Abstract
A new chlorodepsidone has been isolated from the lichen Teloschistes flavicans and named 'vicanicin'. Based on analytical evidence and spectral studies as well as degradation reactions, it is shown to be 2,4-dichloro-3-hydroxy-7-methoxy-1,5,8-trimethyldepsidone (VII).
