Abstract

If a heavy neutrino in the mass range of 1-10 MeV mixes significantly with ve then it would have produced observable events in the Kamioka detector at a time greater than a few minutes after the original events from the supernova SN1987a. On the basis of non-observation of such events, we derive constraints on mixing of this neutrino to ve. The constraints obtained here are a considerable improvement over the corresponding laboratory limits.
