Abstract

The gauge hierarchy problem in the presence of singlets is discussed in a general class of supergravity (SUGRA-)GUTs with "non-minimal coupling" of supergravity to matter. Starting from their known structure of general soft supersymmetry breaking terms induced by the breakdown of local supersymmetry, we obtain sufficiency constraints on their parameters to render the gauge-hierarchy one-loop stable. This rather artificial fine-tuning, besides being unable to save two-loop instability also leads to additional non-trivial constraints for model building that are discussed for SU(5).
