Abstract

A heterobimetallic catalyst obtained by reaction of LiAlH4 with aminodiol derived from natural (+)-tartaric acid promotes asymmetric Michael addition of malonic esters, thiophenols and nitro alkanes to cyclic and acyclic enones with excellent yields albeit low enantiomeric excess.
