Abstract

The texture of a material represents its cumulative thermal and mechanical history and its evaluation involves considerable averaging over numerous grains. Thus a study of the texture changes accompanying structurally superplastic flow could elucidate the operating mechanisms. Debye-Scherrer photography, neutron-ray and X-ray pole figure studies, or the method based on the determination of orientation distribution functions have been used in the understanding of texture changes.
