Abstract
Three two-stage reduction helical gearboxes made of cast construction and transmitting power in the range of 800-2000 hp are considered. The castings were replaced by fabricated casings made of plates not exceeding a thickness of 8 mm. The stress and rigidity levels of the two casings are compared.
