Abstract

Solidification microstructure of a cast Ti-50Al-6Mo alloy has been examined. The as-cast microstructure consists of β-dendrites, lamellar α2+γ regions, eutectoid β+γ and a thin γ layer at the interface between β dendrite and lamellar structure. The microscopic basis of crystallographic texture present in the material as a consequence of the solidification path in the alloy Ti-50Al-6Mo, which solidifies through a L+β phase field has presented.
