Abstract

It is shown that effects of hydration on a superabsorbing hydrolysed starch-g-polyacrylonitrile can be monitored on the solid state 13C spectra, taken in different data acquisition modes. Cross polarisation methods work effectively in the dry and less hydrated polymer. Changes in the spectra are interpreted as sequential effects of hydration induced mobilities of the pendant chain and the starch backbone.
