Abstract

The alpha motor neuron population in dystrophic chicken (line 307) spinal cord was studied. The results indicated a significant increase in the number of alpha motor neurons in the brachial segment. This segment of the spinal cord is responsible for innervating the major flight musculature in the chicken. The findings are significant and have implications for understanding of the disease.
