Abstract

The role of micron size bubbles in three phase reactions, where solid particles may be catalyst or reactant (insoluble or sparingly soluble), in influencing the specific rate of absorption has been assessed. A variety of controlling regimes have been analysed and in many cases, analytical solutions can be obtained. The presence of fine bubbles can lead to an enhancement by a factor of 2 to 50.
