Abstract

In this paper we present the details of SET initiated cleavage of PhSeSePh to electrophilic an selenium species (PhSe+) using 1DNC* as electron acceptor and its utilization in selenenylation reactions. Steady state analysis of fluorescence quenching, dependence of the PhSeSePh quantum yield in the seleneylation reaction on its concentration , and trapping of the resultant PhSe+ for synthetic purposes provides complete dissection of SET phenomenon from the above systems.
