Abstract

Ru(bpy)32+(bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) is quantitatively photo-oxidized to Ru(bpy)33+ in strongly acidic solutions containing dissolved oxygen, and application of the above chemistry has led to the design of an efficient photocatalysed galvanic cell.
