Abstract

Methodology for the synthesis of 1, 7-dihydrohept-4-yne derivatives by the in situ alkylation of tetrahydrofurfuryl chloride (1) by the epoxides (3a-e) is developed and the importance of such an endeavour is exemplified in the synthesis of (±) Patulolide A. Methodology for the synthesis of 1,7-dihydrohept-4-yne derivatives and their utility is described.
