Abstract

A modified procedure for the isolation of "hard resin" from seed-lac is described. An integrated procedure for the isolation of various lac acids from the "hard resin" hydrolysate has been developed. Paper and thin-layer chromatography characteristics of various lac acids and their methyl esters are reported. Quantitative estimation of aleuritic acid and aldehydic arids in "hard" and "soft resins" of various origins has been carried out.
