Abstract
The semiclassical N-atom Jaynes-Cummings model has been shown to exhibit chaotic behaviour. We have determined the critical energy (Ec=1/A2 -3/2, being the interaction parameter) beyond which the instability sets in in this dynamical system describing the atom-field interaction.
