Abstract

The mixed ligand complexes K[RuIII(EDTA)(bipy)] (1) and K[RuIII(EDTA)(o-Phen)] (2) (EDTA, ethylenediaminetetraacetate; bipy, bipyridine; o-Phen, o-phenanthroline) were synthesized and characterized by physicochemical methods. Their redox and photophysical properties were studied. The kinetic and equilibrium data for the formation of these mixed ligand complexes are reported. Surface modification of a TiO2 semiconductor was CO2 was achieved at an energy lower than the band gap energy of TiO2.
