Abstract

Thirty-two patients of non-pituitary adenoma lesions were operated by the transnasal approach during the last decade in the department of Neurosurgery, AIIMS, New Delhi. There is a need to group these lesions under the heading of Spheno-Sellar Non-Pituitary Adenomatous Mass (SSNPAM) to emphasize their importance. Quite a number of these lesions simulated pituitary adenoma and at times it was difficult to differentiate between the two. The key to successful diagnosis is awareness, suspicion, thorough examination and detailed investigation. The importance of multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment approach is emphasized. Transnasal approach is the technique of choice for these lesions.
