Abstract

The rotational correlation function of cyclohexane has been obtained by Raman spectroscopy in the liquid and plastic crystal phase. The characteristic relaxation time for reorientation of the molecular symmetry axis rises from 0·6 ps at 345 K to 2·5 ps at 195 K. Comparison with the J and M extended diffusion model indicates closer agreement with the latter.
